Simple Decorating Ideas For Valentine's Day

January 12, 2014
Valentine's Day is just fun, it is such an easy Holiday.  A little mix of

fun, whimsical, happy, silly and of course a time to celebrate those

we love.

We can decorate as little or as much with pinks, reds,

golds or whites or whatever we like.

I have made a few things to share with you over the next week or

so.  They are just simple things but really and truly it feels good to

have simple.

With a few simple steps it is so easy to create a Valentine Vignette.

Last year we made this Vintage Valentine Grapevine Wreath, if you

like grapevine you may want to take a little peek. Amanda took it

home with her and incorporated it into her guest room decor.

You all know I love this little secretary, and I so enjoy dressing her

up, but I must tell you after all the decorating for Christmas I am

enjoying the beauty of simplicity.  In fact, some of my home seems a

little bare, but very refreshing and good.

Step 1-Make or purchase a colorful wreath.  I did make this one

this weekend because I enjoy making wreaths and I also have a little

wreath shop on etsy.  If you would like to make your own here is

my Gold and Glam Wreath tutorial.  Add your wreath to a door,

hutch, window or art niche they really do add color and festivity.

Step 2-Buy some wooden letters and paint them.  I painted mine

red, any color would be great and since I have always enjoyed glitter

I added some glitter after I painted mine.  I let them dry for a few

hours, then hung with them with clothes pins to my white framed

craft board.

Step 3-Toss in some Vintage Valentine postcards or greeting cards.

tend to hold onto most anything sentimental, so I can always find

something!

Every time I look at this very Vintage card, I just have to chuckle.

So, however you add love to your home - enjoy! I hope you

received a little Valentine love here today!

  1. I have to admit to a heart-filled wreath on the front door, a heart-shaped cake for dessert and a heart-spangled table cloth on Valentine's Day. It is really an easy, no-guilt holiday.

  6. Very cute! I especially love the wreath. I don't do much for Valentine's Day but I do hang a Valentine mini garden flag in my courtyard and sometimes we make paper hearts for inside the house.

  11. Jemma,
These wreaths are so festive! LOVE the colors on them. Do you know that Valentine's Day is my second favorite holiday? Red and Pink, Chocolate, Flowers..........what's not to love, right? The vintage card cracks me up. My sister first introduced me to vintage cards years ago, and ever since then, I was hooked.

I look forward to seeing all your wonderful Valentine ideas, Jemma.
