Fashion Friday- Thinking Spring

My dear friend Laura and I had lunch today at Corner Bakery

and chatted and chatted more!   Laura and I became dear

friends when two of our daughters joined Girl Scouts, twenty

years ago- in fact, we became the troop leaders.  We have

cared for and supported one-another throughout the years.

As the afternoon and sweet tea ended she shared with me that

she enjoyed Fashion Friday-So my dear Laura, this Fashion

Friday is  dedicated to you!!

When I saw this outfit I thought of Laura-she wore a gorgeous

pink jacket today.  It was stunning on her.  Pink is such a

flattering color.

Inspirational Thursday- Serenity

Have you ever thought

that if you just tried harder,

that if you were just a little better,

if you just got that promotion,

or just overlooked-that something

or someone- one more time,

things would change?

But they didn't...

Remember discovering

that the only way things were ever

going to change was to hand

it all to God?

Wasn't it such a relief when we finally handed it all to Him?

And He knew exactly what to do.

That the love of our Heavenly Father,

shelters us, protects us

and guides us,

as only His love and care can ever do.

Finding out that it would not be easy,

but it would be possible.

Through the power of God's grace,

We would in time have serenity.

 Sweet Blessings,

Decorating with Pretty Poppies

Poppies brighten any room and are often found in ornamental

gardens.  They were a funeral flower for ancient Egyptians

and used as a shrine flower by the Greeks. In our home they are

used as a glorious accent color.

You know, how I keep my floral arrangements year after year.

Well this little poppy arrangement is no exception.  She is well

over ten years old.  She has been packed, moved, dusted and

bathed.  Here she is now proudly displayed on our family

room mantle!

Summer of 2012 we painted our living areas French Gray-

With my new clean and neutral colors, I was in need for some

accent colors.  I wanted to incorporate green and tangerine into

my family room.

On a recent shopping trip to Kirklands I found this poppy

painting!  You can imagine how pleased I was-the floral

arrangement and painting are perfect for my mantle decor.

Embracing the tangerine theme, I purchased these pillow covers

and brought continuity to our family room.

What colors are you choosing for Spring?

Liebster Award

Well, you can just imagine how delighted and honored I am that

Melinda, from The Refeathered Roost passed on her Liebster

Award to ATHOMEWITHjemma.  Liebster, in German, means

endearing, valued and lovely.  The award acknowledges up and

coming bloggers for outstanding accomplishments within design

that is presented in their blog.

Here are the rules for accepting the award:

1-  Each blogger should post 11 random facts about themselves.

2-  Answer the questions the tagger has set for you, then create
11 new questions for the chosen bloggers.

3-Choose 11 new bloggers(with less than 200 followers) to pass the award to and link them in your post.

4-Go back to their page and tell them about their award.

5-No tag backs.

Here are the questions which Melinda asked about me.

1-What is your favorite room in your home?

Oh my, I have two!! But if I must choose it would be our formal

living room.  We just put in new hand-scraped hard wood floors,

and repainted the ceiling and walls French Gray  and the trim

pure white.  This room has a large and formal mantle with a

mirror that goes to the ceiling, a lovely wall of windows brings

in abundant light that reflects off the mirror.

2-If you could live in any home that is in a television program,
movie or book, which house would you choose?

I would love to live in a Plantation Home-similar to the one in

A Walk To Remember, or Forrest Gump.  I adore the porches,

with rocking chairs, the balconies on the second floor and of

course the land and space that goes with them!!  Magnolia trees

included!

3-What is the item you dream of bringing home but it is too dad-gum expensive?

My dream is to have a conservatory! I guess, this isn't an item

that I could bring home-but it still is my dream and it is way out

of my budget!

4-Are you a morning person or nightowl?

Morning!! Honestly I am happy to get out of bed and start my

day with a wonderful cup of coffee!  I have tons of energy in the

morning.  I am most creative in the early hours as well.

5-What is your favorite Holiday?

Christmas!  I love the traditions associated with the celebration

of Christ's birth.  The baking and decorating mean alot to me,

and now that we have these wonderful grandchildren I want to

create memories for them at Grammy's and Gramps!

6-Do you think I look fat in this? And if you do why in the world wouldn't you just lie to me?  JUST KIDDING!  One piece or two piece bathing suit?  I'm not kidding.

Two piece??!! No way-tankini please!  They are actually so much

more flattering than a one-piece.

7-What is the next project you are considering for your home?

I am currently sanding and hand painting several pieces of

furniture. Our big project is adding hardwood floors to our

family room and new tile in kitchen.

8-Are you an extrovert or introvert?  (Sorry... I had to put in one question in here concerning personality types.)

I am a bit of a mix-I enjoy meeting new people and I really enjoy

good conversations.  I look forward to time spent with my friends

and miss them when I haven't seen them for awhile.  I also, enjoy

time spent at home, fussing with my flowers, working on

projects, marveling at all the wonders of our beautiful world.

9-What feeling do you hope your home evokes when visitors enter?

I hope that when anyone visits my home, they feel welcome. I

have incorporated many of my Mother and Grandmother's

vintage pieces, along with warm yellows, natural light and plants

to create harmony.  I  then layer my pieces in an effort to create

a sense of  abundance which feels cozy to me.

10-Where is the most interesting place you have visited?

Jackson Hole Wyoming is one of the most interesting places I

have visited.  I enjoy the romance of the cowboy and the Wild

West.  Not to mention the Tetons are beautifully magnificent!

11-What is the greatest joy you find in blogging?

I have two greatest joys!!  I love to write and I am absolutely

loving meeting all of these talented, caring, giving, kind, crafty

and interesting bloggers!  A whole new world is opening up for

me and I am enjoying every moment of it!

Please visit these blogs which I enjoy and who I have passed

Last week we had a sneak peek at the colors for Pantone Spring 2013-

I so enjoyed reading your comments.  I feel as though I have gotten to know you all a bit better by your choice of outfit.

It seemed to me, that the Poppy Dress was the favorite!  I thought for this Fashion Friday we would focus on neutrals.

They are such a beautiful basic to build on. Pantone calls them "linen."

Jemma's Stuffed Peppers

Growing up my Mother would prepare stuffed peppers

quite often.  I would like to share with you this little recipe.  I

have changed it a bit-it is now a vegetarian recipe with the

capability of being modified to your liking by adding turkey,

chicken, beef or venison.  Just replace the black beans with

your choice of meat.

Fun Facts about the Bell Pepper-
It is very low in calories, about 30.
Good levels of vitamin A,C.
Boosts immunity.

Ingredients for Filling:

1 medium zucchini chopped
1 red potato chopped
1/4 cup sweet vidalia onion chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup black beans
1/2 cup white american cheese grated
1/4 cup Fire roasted salsa
1/4 cup chopped tomato for garnish
1/4 cup sliced hass avocado for garnish

The Bell Pepper:  Par Boil Before Filling:
We are going to par-boil these peppers in the microwave-
1/4 cup water
2 large bell peppers
1/8 tsp sea salt
1 Pyrex baking dish
Plastic wrap

We will be par-boiling these beautiful bell peppers before

filling them.  I am going to do this in the microwave-so, before

placing these gorgeous peppers in a 2-quart baking dish, cut off

the tops and remove all of the seeds and sprinkle with sea salt.

Add water to casserole dish, then place peppers upside down

into casserole dish and cover with plastic wrap.  Microwave on

high for 6 minutes.  Leave peppers covered in microwave

until you are ready to fill them.

Now it is time to saute the vegetables.

Saute zucchini, onion and red potato until tender yet crisp.

Add black beans and fire roasted salsa.  Simmer over medium

to low heat for 15 minutes.

This is looking awesome-isn't your mouth just watering?

We are ready to fill these darling peppers with all of this pure

goodness and savory flavor.

Layer vegetable filling and cheese into pepper, place in baking

dish and place covered in microwave for 4 minutes.  Last

minute of baking time uncover - add more american cheese and

bake until melted.  Garnish with sliced avocado and tomato

slices.  Serve with tossed salad(great salad recipe in a

previous post) or fresh fruit!
