Rosy Red Stenciled Flower Pots

Today I am sharing with you a super easy tutorial on how to make your own Rosy Red Stenciled Flower pots.
I am working with a great group of  DIY experts who help me from becoming stagnate.
They merrily encourage, while sharing so much enthusiasm and quite frankly there is no telling what idea they might present to us.
Then to top it off they tell us "go have fun with the project!"
Fun is good, so are challenges and so is being able to share with you this DIY recycle and stencil project as well as links to these talented bloggers.
(Links at the end of this post)
This month our challenge was to recycle and stencil.
I found a darling little package of stencils and went to work jazzing up these mini rosy red flower pots that I had tucked away in one of my craft boxes.
Total cost of this project was around $18.00 if you were purchasing everything.
However I already had most of my supplies.

I began this project by taking these three rather plain-jane flower pots who seemed to have no purpose and not much personality and transformed them into some real cuties that are dressing up some various spots of our home.
With it being Winter and all, I have been having a real hankering for adding just a touch of color to our home.

Supplies For This Project~

  •  3 Ceramic pots (2.8 inches) ~ approximate cost $1.00 each
  • Momenta stencil ~ Cost $2.99
  • Adhesive pearl sticker ~ Cost $1.50
  • Gold Trim Adhesive border ~ Cost $1.50
  • Foam Stencil Dabber Set ~ Cost $3.99
  • Folk Art Sky Blue (465) Acrylic Paint ~ Cost $1.49
  • Styrofoam Floral block (1.8 x 7.8) ~ Cost $1.99
  • Floral Stems (2 bunches)~ Cost $4.99

How To Make Rosy Red Stenciled Flower Pots~

Step 1. Cut florist foam into squares that will fit into bottom of ceramic pots
Use twin stick tape to secure florist foam.

Step 2. Put acrylic paint on paper plate, then place stencil on flower pots, you can tape the stencil in place.

Step 3. Using foam stencil dabber, dip dabbler into paint and then blot repeatedly on paper plate until dabber is nearly dry in appearance.
Stenciling is truly a "dry," brush technique.

Step 4. For this project I used a technique called stippling, which is simply tapping or dabbing against the stencil opening. Repeat this process on each side of the flower pot.

Step 5.  Once paint is dry add self stick trim around the top edge of the flower pot. If needed cut to fit.

Step 6. Add Pearl stickers.
Step 7. Cut flowers and stem to desired height and and stick into florist foam that is inside of the flower pot.

I am really enjoying these little rosy red flower pots and they are a perfect size for so many spots in our home.

Thank you so much for joining me today!

Sea Glass, Serenity & Solitude

Our daughter Amanda and her family have recently relocated to Puerto Rico, she has been sharing the most beautiful photos and videos with us.
Just today I received a wonderful surprise in the mail a package of sea glass!
All of this beauty has inspired me to take a closer look on what nature means to me.
Have you ever had a notion that you should subdue a passion for the love of  Nature?
Well for so very long I attempted to squelch the longing inside of me for my zest for the outdoors.
In fact for many, many years I thought I was out of sync with the entire world around me for the yearning I felt deep in my heart for the serenity I felt being next to the sea or climbing a mountain.
As the years have rolled on I realize that I was not out of sync...I was infact intune.
I was blessed with an awareness and awakening early on to love nature and for that I am thankful.
Those many decades that I was surrounded by concrete and cars I experienced a physical ache, one where a knot would form in my throat and tears welled up in the corners of my eyes.
" Stop this nonsense." I would say to myself and then I would repeat the list that I had so well memorized in my mind of all of the reasons that being surrounded by nature was not necessary or practical.
I'd chastise myself for indulging in the serenity that I felt in the deepest portions of my soul when I summoned up those blissful memories.
Mountain hikes, camping along a pristine creek, the wind dancing on top of golden Aspen leaves,
the sweet pungent scent of pine needles after a Summer thunderstorm.
The joy of solitude where the mind and soul can rest.
The soothing sound of coyotes howling on a lonesome night or owls calling one another in a brilliant moon drenched sky.
Or the mighty roar of tempestuous seas and the constant and predictable rhythm of  each wave caressing the shore.
The taste of salty air, soft warm breezes kissing slightly rosy skin and oh those sunrises and sunsets.
While some folks may find the forces of nature daunting and intimidating I find serenity.
The vastness and power of nature makes me feel very small and puts the whole world in perspective.
Perhaps it is the tide of time or maybe it is that the drama of life seems so pointless and petty when you stand in awe of what God has created.
Thank you for joining me today, I would love to hear how you enjoy nature.
Have a wonderful weekend.

The thing that I love most about these meatballs is the zesty and sassy taste.
I added some horseradish and smoked paprika to give them some awesome flavor.
Shape them in little round balls and place them on a baking sheet that has just a smidgen of olive oil on it to prevent them from sticking.
Bake them in a 400 degree oven for about 10-15 minutes and they are ready to be dancing in that awesome Ragu sauce.
Scoop em' up and serve them over your favorite pasta!
You are going to love this!

5 Fabulous Ways To Pamper Yourself

The beginning of each year I contemplate the power and hope of a fresh mindset.
For me it is comparable to organizing a room, closet or cupboard.
I like to take a short inventory of the previous year, make a few mental notes and move forward with the new.
I am not one for setting lofty goals, I know what I can and cannot attain, I am learning to accept me the way that I am and that I am  Enough. I am here to encourage you to do the same.
So today I am sharing some thoughts with you on these topics.
For this year I have chosen to begin with a pampering yourself type of mindset.
I like this outlook as it can be easily customized to what your own personal version of pampering is.
While perhaps pampering sounds a tad bit selfish I believe that by pampering ourselves and accepting ourselves for who we are, we unlock the dynamic power within ourselves to share kindness, generosity and love to others.
Taking care of ourselves first, makes us strong and healthy so that we can give joyfully to others.
Well these past two weeks I set my goal on 5 ways to pamper myself in a joy filled and spruce me up manner.
Here they are one by one with tips for you on how to execute a no-fail plan of pampering yourself and igniting the power within.

1. Spontaneous Pampering In Nature

I love being pampered by nature.
Truly is there anything quite as therapeutic for the body, mind and soul than immersing oneself with Trees, birds, sky, sun, wind, rain, flowers, mountains or the ocean.
The glory of the good earth, the scent, the sights and sounds will never ever fail to re-knew the soul and rekindle the playful, hopeful lost child within each one of us.

A true friend just seems to know you better than you know yourself, and understands the nuances of your life.
Laughter can cure the blahs, winter blues, doldrums and when you are chatting, laughing and talking until you drop with a friend all worries recede like high tide.
You'll be amazed on this inexpensive form of therapy and long-lasting joy spent with a friend.

Every year I promise myself that I will go gracefully into the Holiday season.
Hair freshly colored, fresh coat of polish on the nails and shimmery lips.
Well it all seems to elude me and I usually end up cancelling pre-made hair appointments and feeling like a juggler who has just dropped all of her hoops.
So this week I am happy to report that I did get my roots refreshed a snip here and there and some pretty new nails felt good, I actually felt like a new person!
It's an amazing thing to feel re-energized.

"That was fun!" and then you couldn't wait to have that sort of fun again.
Just the anticipation of having fun could set one to giggling.

By practicing mental quietness we are able to be present in the moments of life.
