Jemma's Tales

Change Is Good

February 02, 2016
I am sure that during the course of  life you have heard that change is good for you.

However, change can be challenging and difficult.

Relinquishing the familiar, where safety resides like an old friend, then trading it all in for

uncharted sailing where we could find a rough and treacherous sea.

Change inevitably means letting go of what was, and trading it in for something new.

Change is futile to resist, it arrives like a gust of wind on a Spring day.

"Life is a series of spontaneous changes.  Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow.
Let reality be reality.
Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like."
-Tao Tzu

Our backyard in May of 2015

"The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking.
It cannot be changed without changing our thinking."
-Albert Einstein

Our home today

"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but building on the new."

Our home last Fall 2015

We have had many changes this past year and I have had to call upon some calming

Each one of us has stress and anxiety in our lives and it is discovering those "secret

weapons," that create a feeling of harmony in which to help us find a sense of calm and

Some find solace and comfort surrounded by the stillness, beauty and serenity of nature.

"Change your thoughts and change your world."
- Norman Vincent Peal

Others find balance and tranquility in preparing the soil, nurturing the seed and
embracing the flower as it blooms.

"What is necessary to change a person is to change his awareness of himself."
-Abraham Maslow

Sometimes change is the catalyst to open a new door to supportive

and nourishing friendships, new projects and dreams.

  1. Oh it is SO ironic that your subject is on change. I created a quote on this very subject early yesterday and I was going to put it on my Instagram, but then decided to use another quote of mind instead. Just note that when I do put it up, I did not copy your idea from this morning, but just that the timeless subject of change was running through my mind early yesterday morning! Oh dearest, yes, it is inevitable and as Solomon (or whoever said it), there is nothing new under the sun. Therefore, if my ancestors did it and all those who came before us, then I too can endure change. Talk about change; though I feel GREAT, little aches and pains, tweaks and difficulties in seeing are all reminders that yes, I am changing. But there is something even better ahead.

HAVE A SUPER DAY in that fabulous house of yours! XOXOX

    1. Good Morning Dearest!
You and I find ourselves on the same wave length so frequently these days!
It must be this 50 something age bracket that has ignited a new sense of awareness and acceptance .
Oh, I too have some aches and pains and after the weekend with landscape and garden planning,
      My joints are very creaky!

  2. How exciting to have a new party to link up too! You have motivated me to write something!! Lovely post. You make change sound wonderful. I am not one who usually likes change and I resist it till I have to give in!

    1. Eileen,
I think it is surrendering the comfort of security that is the most challenging for me.
I usually find myself feeling very panicky with change.
So, going with the flow is very soothing for me too, Eileen.
      Thanks for your visit!

  19. Sweet Jemma, I agree that change is good. Without it life would become stagnate! Your home is beautiful, and seeing your yard made me smile. Mine is buried in snow. lol! So happy to hear about the new party. You gals are awesome!!

  20. Enjoyed your post today and yes change can be very good even when we think it's not going to be! My man hates change...and I am not fond of it but as I age gracefully....I am learning that change is a MUST and 99.9% of the time CHANGE is VERY GOOD! I just loved looking at the pictures of your beautiful home going up! I know even during the trying times of house building this had to be exciting. Looks like it's going to be a good party! Happy Wednesday! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  21. I like change as long as it something I want to change. I really struggle with change when it is imposed upon me! I'm working on that....
Looking forward Thoughts of Home on Thursday.

  22. I think we all resist change in some way, but without it things would never be different, we wouldn't grow. I love this post, especially seeing the progress in your gorgeous home! What a delight it will be when you are happily nesting inside. As I grow older, I see the wisdom of being able to trust that change is good, and to be able to sway with the wind rather than being so rigid that I refuse to bend. :) xo

  23. Change is good. Sometimes we tend to fight it, but it usually always works out. It can be scary and frustrating. Your new house is so beautiful. You have truly transformed it into a loving home. Best of luck with the new link party. xo

  24. Good Morning Jemma, I just wanted to mention to you that the pics today on my post were not with connection to their color, just some meanings of the rose in general. I sure wish I had the time to find out the different colors and their meanings, wouldn't that be nice? I do know that the red rose symbolizes love, and that's about the only one I know. There were three other words I didn't mention - wisdom, passion, and sensuality because I ran out of rose pictures hahaha.

    Have a sweet day.

    love, ~me

  25. Jemma, I love all of these appropriate and so wise! Change is one of those very difficult things to do, but usually, the results are so much better than what we ever expected! Love that home you have! Hugs sweet friend!!

  26. You are so right about "change," and accepting change gets more difficult and challenging as we get older. Stress and anxiety seem to always be popping up here and there everyday.....sometimes they are more of an annoyance and other times they can be life-changing. It's wonderful when we can have outlets -- prayer, yoga, meditation or some form of creativity that can help us through those challenging times.

I'm looking forward to the new blog party!

    Warm hugs,

  27. What a lovely post Jemma! How exciting on your link party, I'll be sure to join you!
