The Wicker Suitcase

July 07, 2014
Our Church has several ministries and I am very

fortunate to be associated with one of them.

It is Angel's Attic an interesting and well

stocked resale shop.

Angel's Attic has donated more than $100,000 to

numerous charities both home and abroad.

I have been volunteering in their furniture hospital.

And I have been enjoying every moment of pondering

over the various pieces of furniture that pass through

it's portals.

As well as enjoying  sanding, painting and developing

caring friendships, along the way.

And then one day this wicker suitcase appeared.

I casually eyed it for several days,

passing by it,

touching it,

picking it up and then setting it back down.

I am not sure of it's history,

I am not sure of it's actual purpose.

Is it a picnic basket?

Is it a child's bag?

Where did it travel?

The wicker suitcase shows little wear and tear.

Some of the grand babies put their baby dolls in it.

Some of the grand babies pack it around as if they

are going on a trip.

For now the wicker suitcase decorates our home.

However, it seems to me to be a bit of a mystery and

am waiting to see if it takes me on any travels...

  2. Hi Jemma,

What a beautifully composed post! I am intrigued by your wonderful wicker suitcase as I have a tiny one on which my phone sits, along with my address book. Inside, I've placed my favourite recipe books to have close at hand.

If your mysterious charmer does decide to take you somewhere, I hope you'd make it to Greece!

    Have a lovely week, sweetie!

  11. Yes, that is me holding Nel when she was a baby, and I was only 21 years old! The other pictures are of her as well, except for the one with the owl.

Thank you for stopping by today, Jemma. Me and Nel appreciate it so much.

  13. Love your wicker suitcase, Jemma. I have one which I keep as part of my picnic basket collection. I can't resist them. I'm hoping to take each one out for a picnic, so they all have they're own stories to tell, and I can remember every time I look at them. :)
