DIY Red White and Blue Door Decor

Welcome to our creative gathering of Ten on the Tenth.
We are a group of friends and bloggers who share our individual spin on creativity for the home for under Ten dollars on the 10th of each month.
With our theme challenge for June being red, white and blue I wanted to create something Patriotic for our front door in preparation for the 4th of July.
So, I headed to my craft closet and Hobby Lobby and here I am sharing my  DIY Red, White and Blue Door Decor.

Spring Nesting Blog Hop | Afternoon Tea

Welcome to At Home With Jemma.
I have a refreshed Web design (thank you Linda) and some free printables for new subscribers, so I hope you'll become a member of our homemaking community by joining our mailing list.
I have been blogging for many years now and blogging continues to be a remarkable gift to me.
Blogging provides a nurturing and creative outlet for me to share homemaking, writing, crafts, recipes and gardening with other homemakers like you!
I am also thankful for the opportunity to connect with lovely folks from all over the world.
Today I was invited by my longtime friend Cecilia from My Thrift Store Addiction to join in with eight other bloggers for a cozy Spring Nesting Blog Hop.
So, welcome gentle friends to Afternoon Tea on our Colorado Patio.

May Day Country Cottage Wreath

Good Morning and thank you for joining me today as I celebrate May Day!
Truly what a beautiful day it is here in the mountains of Colorado, the sun is slipping through the pines and we didn't get below freezing last night.
After having had an extremely cold and snowy Winter we are welcoming spring with open arms.
The last snow drift has melted, tulips are budding and I saw the first bumble bee and hummingbird of the season.
Naturally with all of this Spring bursting around me I was compelled to create a May Day Country Cottage Wreath.

Links To All Of The Blogs Are At The End Of This Post.

As you probably know by now we recently moved to Monument Colorado and naturally one of the first things I wanted to do was check out the nearby shops. Monument has a super cute downtown and I have really been looking forward to checking out a few of our local thrift shops too.

Sadie, my traveling and walking buddy

This past week Sadie and I loaded up in the Yukon and headed out. I even had a small list of wish items in my purse and I had truly planned to make a full day of it. However once I arrived at Tri-Lakes my search ended.

DIY Thrift Store Find Farmhouse Wall Hook Rack
Organized Thrift Store

But for this blog post our challenge was to find a thrift store find for under ten bucks. You won't believe this - I found my treasure for $5.00 with money left over for a chocolate milkshake!

I found this rather humdrum stained wooden rack and gave it a new life with some light sanding, chalk paint and acrylic paint.

From Drab to Fab in just a few simple steps!

P.S. Customize this makeover to your liking, DIY is all about your vision and style.

Our Colorado Home

Hi friends! Today I am sharing our upcoming adventure with you. We are relocating to Black Forest/Colorado Springs Colorado. I thought I would begin documenting this adventure by sharing a few photos of our Colorado home with you. We have big plans of transforming this home and making it ours, from the outside to the inside and in-between. The hubby and I plan on doing as much as of the transformation on our own as we can.

Entry of Colorado Springs Home

The Colorado housing market has been very challenging for us and home prices are higher in Colorado than in Texas. On our recent housing hunting trip the hubby and I each had our wish list and then reality set in. Reality is a great way of keeping us all in check. On this house hunting trip reality made us stretch our imaginations and dollars.

Side View Of New Colorado Home

The bones of this house are virtually without flaw. This is a one owner home and these folks have taken excellent care of their home and property so we feel blessed to have found it. Their decorating style is much different than ours and this is where our creativity, carpentry skills and decorating skills will be put to good use.

Living Room Wissler Ranch

Welcome to the living room of our Colorado home. We see so much potential; hardwood floors, fireplace makeover, modern white trim, drapes, rugs, paint, furniture. I am envisioning a mix of traditional, and modern cozy cottage style. We hope to also incorporate some elements of our Texas home style too.

Dining Room Wissler Ranch

Lots of sunshine pours into the dining room, so we are looking forward to adding trim, board and batten to these dining room walls, re-painting, changing out the chandelier and drapes and replacing the carpet with hardwoods. My hubby is a former Master Carpenter so he has the know how. It is going to be work, but it's going to be such a worthwhile project and one that I hope we will sit back and enjoy as the years roll on. Do you see a backache coming on...

Wissler Ranch Kitchen

Can't wait to transform this kitchen. So many ideas spinning in our heads right now, money will definitely be a factor as to how much we can do. Maybe it will be just be a little bit at a time.

Any ideas on how much a kitchen remodel costs?

The home sits on nearly 4 acres of glorious pine trees and just look at what our grands will get to play on! They have their own play house with swing set attached.

Simple Fall Decor In Our Dining Room

Fall is my favorite season. I love vibrant red and gold colored leaves, crisp morning air and even a light frost. The change of season is like a breath of fresh air; renewing, enlightening and invigorating. In celebration of my favorite season I have gathered together a few festive Fall supplies along with a couple of velvet pumpkins, a few jars, and some flowers to create this simple Fall decor in our Dining Room.

Trio of handpainted and decoupage pint jars

This pumpkin inspired centerpiece is simple and mess free.

Pumpkin inspired decoupage jars

No carving or seeds, just a few pint size jars jazzed up.

Happy Harvest and pumpkins on the antique hutch

On my antique hutch I added some pumpkins to an ironstone platter.

Fall in Texas 2018 in our dining room

You know, I never truly realized how much I enjoy color until I began my blog. I thought I was a neutral sort of person and I guess I am for the backdrop. But I sure do enjoy adding warm hues and vibrant tones.

Red velvet pumpkin and bright yellow sunflowers

And flowers, always flowers, faux, real or paper, purchased, handmade or homegrown.

Always add flowers to a vignette

I certainly hope that I will always decorate for the seasons no matter how old I am, even if it becomes just one lone pumpkin on my kitchen counter!

How is your Fall decorating going??

Happy Harvest from me to you! xo

Balloons and Pompoms Al Fresco Tablescape

I love Al Fresco dining do you? Dining outdoors feels like party time. But when a sundrenched Texas Summer decides to roll in, dining outdoors becomes challenging. However where there is a good challenge, there is also creativity, so come on in and let me share with you how I decided to beat the Summer heat with fun colors, handmade flowers, pompoms and balloons.

Thank you for joining me today and 19 other creators as they share their imaginations, décor and creativity with you too. You will find all of their links to their Alfresco Tablescapes at the end of my post.

Please come on in!

Let's leave the French Doors open this morning as their is just a slight breeze and I hear the birds chirping, do you?

Truthfully my flowers are wilted, the blooms are faded and the water bill is rising, so the homegrown floral centerpiece is no more.

So let's party with some economical handmade table accessories and centerpieces!

Today I am using my turquoise three tiered stand along with a variety of pink and turquoise hued handmade pompoms as part of this tablescape centerpiece. Then I added some white balloons attached to variegated paper straws and placed them inside petite turquoise milk bottles.

Balloons are such a fun and easy way to add color, texture, height and interest to any tablescape.

I found these precious, pink and petite ceramic basket at Micheals for 60% off-they seem so perfect to use as baskets of blueberries for breakfast.

Plastic blue and pink Margarita glasses are perfect vessels for Breakfast parfaits.

  1. One container of coconut yogurt.
  2. Sliced banans
  3. Blueberries
  4. Granola

Handmade crepe flowers are so easy to make and add such a sweet touch to any tablescape. To make these petite and sweet little flowers I simply used a roll of white crepe paper and used a felted blue ball for the center.

Thanks so much for joining us all and may all you have a Sunny vibes sort of day and week!
