Spring Nesting Blog Hop | Afternoon Tea

May 11, 2020
Welcome to At Home With Jemma.
I have a refreshed Web design (thank you Linda) and some free printables for new subscribers, so I hope you'll become a member of our homemaking community by joining our mailing list.
I have been blogging for many years now and blogging continues to be a remarkable gift to me.
Blogging provides a nurturing and creative outlet for me to share homemaking, writing, crafts, recipes and gardening with other homemakers like you!
I am also thankful for the opportunity to connect with lovely folks from all over the world.
Today I was invited by my longtime friend Cecilia from My Thrift Store Addiction to join in with eight other bloggers for a cozy Spring Nesting Blog Hop.
So, welcome gentle friends to Afternoon Tea on our Colorado Patio.

Spring nesting mini blog hop

Seems as though with the pandemic, sheltering in place and saying goodbye to Winter.
I have found myself creating and nesting with an extra zest and zeal.

As we all continue to shelter in place or smaller groups, I believe that we all might be celebrating at home more.
Intimate gatherings of family and friends around a specially set table is comforting to me.
I hope this post inspires you to bring out your special pieces and create your own bit of solace in your own backyard too.

So, on a sunny, warm and mild afternoon I prepared an Afternoon Tea for my husband and myself on our back patio.
Treasures from the past mean so much to me and for this Afternoon Tea it wasn't just about the Tea and cakes.
It was about cherished gifts from friends and family and just embracing the good Mother Earth and all of the sunshine.

Isn't this tea pot gloriously wonderful as it sings of Spring, my dear friend Laura Peyton gave this precious Spring tea pot to me years ago and it is a treasure that is displayed in various spots of my home all throughout the early months of Spring.

I was recently gifted this vintage style cake plate from my daughter Rebecca.
It is an endearing love gift from her on Easter.

Since we are nestled in the woods my goal is to bring the woodsy charm right up onto the patio.
So with that in mind I began with a beloved floral print tablecloth, that was my Mothers.
I added houseplants that are tucked into charming terra-cotta pots, miniature roses, and tucked in some faux flowers too.

I have various sizes and heights of cake plates that I love to use when creating a tablescape.
They work wonderfully for displaying items as they "raise," them up so they can be seen.
You can see the darling yellow tea pot below got a little lift.

Speaking of this precious and gloriously bright yellow teapot she was gifted to me my another daughter, our Tessa.

I was so happy to see you were part of the Spring Nesting Mini Blog Hop and couldn't wait to see what you shared. Your afternoon tea in the woods is wonderful!!!!!

Believe it or not, our spring weather here in Texas has been mild. Every day we say, "Another great day in the neighborhood!" It reminds me of weather in the mountains of Colorado.

    Happy Spring, dear friend,

  15. Hi Jemma, your tea party is so lovely. I especially enjoyed that it was set for you and the Mister, now how sweet is that. We both think alike when it comes to beautiful treasures that have been gifted to us, we hold them dear to our heart and want to share them with others as you did on you spring table. Colorado is such a beautiful state and I can just imagine the clean air and blue skies as you and hubby sat on your patio with tea and cake. Thank you for the virtual seat my sweet friend!

  18. What a beautiful daffodil tea pot! Your tables are always so pretty, Jemma. It's easy to see that you not only have a knack for pulling together just the right pieces but that you love doing it too. You are an example of great things coming out of tough times. You work with what you have when you have to and always bring about a magazine worthy setting. It just goes to show that our so called limits don't have to limit us. Maybe it won't be too much longer before you'll be able to call all the girlfriends in to share teatime with. Let's hope so!

  20. Jemma, I remember your yellow tea pot from before, and I've always loved that. I remember you took a picture of it one time with a quote saying, "Friends are like a warm cup of tea." Your afternoon tea is charming, and your table is lovely for it. I really like the vintage cake plate that Rebecca gave you. I smiled at her name, as that was my dear Mother's name. Your creativity always amazes me, Jemma.
