Painted Pots and Succulents DIY

May 28, 2013
This is just a fun little Do-It-Yourself Project.

I had two plastic pots, acrylic paint, leftover daisies,

soil, sphagnum moss and two cute succulents.  What to do,

what to do?

Some easy little step by step instructions-

Perhaps it appears that I am a bit crazy over sunflowers and

Well I think I am- and this is why!

They are sunshine yellow, and doesn't that lift just about

everyone's spirit?

Two, they look happy, who can resist those

dainty layered petals?

Three, Daisies, symbolize innocence and gentleness.

So, I decided to spruce up some pots with some paint and

cheerful daisies.  Just add soil, succulents and fresh air.

There are so many varieties of succulents and as you know they are

becoming increasingly popular.  I chose these two based on their

color and interesting natures.

For my red pot I chose Cremnosedum Crocodile.  This is such

a beautiful succulent. The leaves on this succulent have rose

contrasting antique like colors.  I felt the red pot

accentuated the rose tips of this plant.  I prepared a mixture

of moss, a few pebbles and potting soil in order to create a

porous soil. Succulents like well drained soil.  Add bright

light and do not overwater.

In my blue pot I planted the Sempervivum Arachnoideum

(cobweb) succulent.  A very interesting plant which

appears to be covered in a web. (This is a baby one and still

is new at forming webs.)  It has delicate leaves

and will provide soft, delicate rosette blossoms.  Once again

porous soil, do not overwater and bright light.

Place on your favorite outdoor table, pour some lemonade,

put your feet up and enjoy your Sunny days-

  7. Hi Jemma,
those look so cute. I love the added daisy. At Home Depot a while ago, they had shallow pots planted with succulents for about $12. I loved the way they looked, and have been meaning to transplant some of my succulents that are in the ground into a couple of pots. Thanks for your inspiration!
    Have a great day!
