Container Gardening-Confessions of a Plant Lover

April 16, 2013
Container Gardening, I have a Pinterest Board on this very Topic.  I would have never thought that I would be such an advocate of  growing plants this way, but I am and this is why...

May I be completely truthful?

I hesitate to be this open...

I love Texas and I also don't...

Ah...

Such a relief..

There, I said it...

Do you think that being totally honest with yourself and others is well-

therapeutic?

I need to be honest...

Why?

Because I am writing this

and devouring chocolate chip cookies.

That can't be good...

Truly, I am a gardening, plant and flower loving addict...

And, in order for me to get the blooms,

vibrant color,

abundant and hardy growth,

magnificent show...

I have admittedly resorted to containers...

Does this make me less of a gardener?

Or just a wiser one?

If I could I would choose a flower bed.

However, our lack of water,

Our scorching heat,

Our incessant sun,

Has brought me to this...

What would you do??

  1. My front yard, which is really my back yard ( long story) is mostly driveway so it is mostly container gardening. And, the containers are looking so colorful right now.

    Your photos are lovely.

  2. Beautiful! I have my plants in containers also. Our ground is so rocky, and red clay, so I like to have colorful pots. I think it's finally warm enough to plant some annuals. So I will do that soon.

Have a great day, and thanks for visiting. I'm now following.

  3. Good morning, Jemma! Your flowers looks beautiful. I would love to have masses of flowers in beds, but they never seem to work out as well in our area, either. I plant some perennials in beds, but the annuals (where all the color usually is) I save for pots.
I don't think it makes you any less of a gardener, just a smarter one, who knows what will work well.

  4. Those orange daisies are so vibrant and pretty! One of my garden goals this year is to add more color to our garden. I'll have to hunt down those flowers to add, so pretty! I container garden in the front yard because our HOA cuts the grass. Container gardening is the only way to ensure they don't mow over my flowers. And its fun to arrange the pots, paint them if needed, and find fun patterns on them. Your patterned white pot is so dainty looking. Great find!

  6. It makes you a fantastic and smart gardener - why grow if you can't get flowers??? And you know we all have a love/hate relationship with where we live.

    Your garden is gorgeous. sandie

  8. Oh I do so understand the container gardening. I live in the desert and the heat of 120 come summer, so nothing will survive except a few container things that I can put in the shade. I love your floweres. they are so beautiful. I would love for you to link up to my Inspire Me Tuesday party that is ongoing. - - -http://www.astrollthrulife.net/2013/04/160th-inspire-me-tuesday.html

I think your containers are totally inspirational. Hugs, Marty
