3 Style Tips To Steal For Fall
September 04, 2015
It has been very warm here in North Texas this week, the thrill of Summer is pretty much over, and I am beyond ready to change my wardrobe up.
I am coaxing Fall into my life, cinnamon candles, apple pie, and decorating.
I am so excited to share 3 beautiful style tips with you today that you can steal for this Fall!
Tip One-Turtle Necks are the New Tees
Replace your Classic black or white T-shirt for a turtleneck sweater.
Tip Two-Sweater Scarf
Sweater Scarves are in again-I love them.
Tip Three-Shirt Tails
I love a long shirt tail, so flattering Ladies!
I have found some flattering and not too over sized white Shirts from Anthropologie, and Gap. Some of the Michael Kors line has a flattering cut as well.
I am getting so tired of the soft pastels, sandals and white pants
(yes, we still wear them after Labor Day) is that bad??
I just want to wear jeans, scarves, houndstooth, boots and sweaters!
If you read my blog regularly you might remember the post on Fringe For Fall.
We chatted about how fringe was in for 2015 and how to incorporate it tastefully into our wardrobes.
I did find a pair of Ralph Lauren black boots with just a pop of fringe on the zipper, I scooped them up too, so that is my fringe for Fall and I couldn't be more pleased.
Pairing up some amazing neutrals.
Included some cowboy boots....I do live in Texas, wink...
Simple style on the blog today.

Those are some lovely pieces you've put together, Jemma! They will all look smashing on you, pretty lady. Now, I need to dig out a Pumpkin candle.....I'm hoping to do a bit of Fall around here this weekend.....between naps, of course!
ReplyDeleteCarol,
DeleteI love long shirttails and especially with skinny jeans, can't wait for Fall!
Rest up this weekend, and know I am thinking of you.
I am so with you girlfriend....Ready to get out of sandals, capris, and t shirts and on to fall attire. I love black and white with pops of color. Your suggestions today are right on.....I hope your weekend is filled with joy...
ReplyDeleteNancy,
DeleteWe are all suffering with this never ending heat! Even my scarecrow is begging for cooler weather!
Have a Blessed Weekend,
Jemma
Love my turtlenecks.... And scarfs.....
ReplyDeletePlus turtlenecks are perfect for me, as I am 'olden' and my neck has "gone." They cover it, wonderfully. :-)
Tessa,
DeleteI hear you my friend, scarfs and turtle necks are forgiving to our "olden," necklines! Love this term by the way:)
Hello September!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not too keen on turtlenecks myself - but the scarf - I think that double scarf in black and white is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think that scarf is fabulous and timeless too:)
DeleteHappy Friday!
Hi Jemma, beautiful selections. I am so ready for fall clothes and purses. Oh and boots, I love them.
ReplyDeleteThe scarves are a favorite too. Love the black and white bag. And, a crisp white button shirt is a staple!!
Happy September and happy dressing for autumn.
Have a great holiday weekend.

My Dear Texas Friend,
DeleteOh me too! I hear every word you write and feel the sense of waiting that you do. Just maybe after this weekend we will have cooler temps and we can dress for Autumn in our boots and scarves!
Hugs,
Jemma
I'm looking for a couple of cute crisp white blouses hopefully with the longer back but not pregnant looking. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteI'm the hotflash queen these days so my scarves are just hanging in the closet.
Yes, this makes all the sense in the world to me-finding a semi fitted blouse that doesn't flow all around the waist. These are challenging to find-but I did find one at Anthroplogie that I love it. You might also take a look at some of the Michael Kors collection. I have found a few that are more of a stream line cut
DeleteIt is amazing to me how long hot flashes go on-seems they are never ending. If this dreaded heat ever stops-we will feel better:)
Happy September, Jemma! I am not looking forward to winter but I do like the clothes and the boots. The white shirt with the longer back is great. Pretty selections. Have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy September Eileen!
ReplyDeleteI know, you are not looking forward to cold and snow and I do not blame you one bit. You and I have opposite weather and I can't wait for Fall and Winter, those are our best Seasons.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend too!
You ladies made me smile. I am ready to cover my "olden" neck, too :) Our temps here in Nebraska are supposed to drop from the 90's currently to the 70's next week. Maybe we can pack away the sandals and sleeveless tops.
ReplyDeleteJulie,
DeleteI am going to adopt that term from here on out-I guess it is a combination of golden and old!
Anyway, humor is an essential part of aging with style and most of the fashion on the blog today is updated, current-not too trendy and olden friendly!
Let's pack Summer up and send it on it's merry way!
And HELLO my friend! Jemma, I am with you; I am ready for jeans and that turtleneck and I am going to RUN to the Gap and look for that shirt. I love my boyfriend jeans and they are the perfect thing for Fridays at school with some great boots or pumps even! BUT....the 3 flights of stairs upon which I have to RUN may not be the best terrain for pumps!
ReplyDeleteI am exhausted and the weather is hot and humid. I am looking forward to sharing, both of us, our autumn worlds.....LOVE YOUR IDEAS!
I am exhausted too and the temperatures are still near 100-Wednesday is suppose to cool off-I am keeping my fingers crossed.
DeleteI am with you! I am pretty much over summer and want cool weather. It was so hot here today and supposed to be 89 on Monday....that is hot for us! I remembered your post on fringe and actually thought about it when I was in Chico's yesterday. I found the cutest boho woven long vest with fringe on it. It was on sale with another 40% off so I grabbed it. Can't wait to wear it with skinny jeans and boots. Love all your picks! Are turtlenecks really back in? I thought they were out of style. The clerk at Chico's asked me if I needed a turtleneck with my vest.... It instantly brought me back to the 70's!
ReplyDeleteOh I love skinny jeans so much too:) they are so flattering paired with boots and just the right shirt.
DeleteDid You really get a fringe vest!! I am so excited for you, oh I must go to Chico's today!
I love turtlenecks, shirt tails, and sweater scarves....I am all in for cooler weather!
ReplyDeleteLove them all too-can't wait for Fall.
DeleteI am ready to wear Fall clothes too, Jemma. It's not quite cool enough here, but I'm waiting patiently. : ) Those plain black boots are something I would wear, and I love that black and white purse, so cute. I must check out the Fall fashions real soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend, my dear.
love, ~Sheri
I know that your heat continues too-seems like it has been such a long Summer.
DeleteI'm going to be the voice of desension here Jemma! I am NOT ready to say goodbye to summer! Waaaaaaaaaa!! We had a lovely summer, maybe that's why, but it's always too short.
ReplyDeleteI will say that as usual your fashion choices are sheer perfection! Love the houndstooth bag, and I'm not even a bag person (or should I say 'lady'? Lol). I don't like turtlenecks on me though. For starters, I dislike anything on my neck, but they also don't look great on me 'cause I have big boobs.
Stay cool my friend and hang in there. Cooler weather will be here before you can say 'hot toddy'.
xxx
Do you love houndstooth too:) such a timeless look and oh did I mention I purchased a pair of houndstooth slacks!
DeleteIt is okay if you don't want Fall to arrive yet, you live in New England and once Winter arrives, I know it stays. Of course you will be traveling this Winter in your cool and groovy RV:)
Good evening Jemma,
ReplyDeleteNot only do I love fall, but I love dressing for fall. There's just something about putting on a new, chunky sweater, a turtleneck and oh I can't wait to wear my boots!!!! Scarves are an everyday accessory for me, I have many! I do love that houndstooth plaid bag, Think I may need something with that pattern! Love it!
I'll email you tomorrow. My laptop is giving me trouble and it is just plain dangerous for me to email much by my cellphone. Happy holiday weekend!
xo
Linda
Agree totally, it is the 'feel,' we get dressing for Fall. It just sort of feels good and is symbolic of toasty fires, cinnamon scents, good food, and sweet memories.
DeleteI am so excited about the pumpkins you are making me, can't wait to receive them:)
We had a chilly week that had me digging into my closet for sweaters. They did indeed feel cozy. Today it's back to more summery things, but it won't be long before autumn weather sets in for good. Not a fringe fan here, but I do like houndstooth.
ReplyDeleteYou are back in School this week and I am sure busily preparing lesson plans. I can hardly imagine putting on a sweater, especially today with temps hovering just around 100. I am looking forward to Fall so much. One can never go wrong with houndstooth.
DeleteGreat ideas, Jemma. I especially love scarves to jazz up my pretty neutral outfits. Sweater scarves sound lovely. Can't wait to try some of the newer booties
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great post! :)
Jane x
Hi Jane,
DeleteI love adding a scarf too-they do jazz up an outfit!
xo
Jemma
Love the white shirt and the cowgirl boots and LOVE the big houndstooth check bag! I will continue to enjoy summer as long as the pool water is comfortable in temperature and the air con bills are not terribly high.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
DeleteHaving a pool is the "key," in a hot climate. We had a pool at the home we sold, and of course there is one here at the apartment, I actually enjoyed it a bit earlier in the Season. But I am longing for Summer to end and our new home to be ready for us. Living in Texas every gal needs at least one pair of cowgirl boots!
I am so ready for fall, but we are still gettng hot weather here! I love those scarves too! Great choices here. I always adore when someone else does the legwork amd shopping for me:)) Thanks so much for sharing your inspirations with us on #stylefocus!
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
DeleteI always enjoy participating in your stylefocus project! It is so fun to see what other gals are putting together in their homes and wardrobes!
Awesome post! I would love to invite you to my new link party The Beautifully Creative Inspired. The party launched on Friday and will continue every Fridays at 9AM eastern time on 5 BLOGS! It runs until Wednesday night :D Hope you can party with us!
ReplyDeleteShanice,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the invite, sounds like a super party:)
Love that white purse and the tweed scarf! Those are things when I see them I say Come to MaMa...
ReplyDeleteJemma,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lovely, classic inspiration. By the time we can wear these clothes again, I should be able to get the pants over my ankle :) I especially love turtlenecks. They are so comfortable and flattering.
