Your Authentic Voice & Brighten Workshop

You know it is going to be a good day when your coffee cup is brimming with your favorite creamer and your morning walk is not only filled with Texas sunshine but there is also no Texas wind blowing.
A good bit of Texas is on the Prairie and when that wind gets to going, it can take your hair right off your head, sort of sounds like a Tall Tale doesn't it...ya'll just have to come visit to find out...

Maybe I should just say it was a beautiful day for a Workshop. It was a day to live fully and be present in each moment. A day to have a mindset of all of the possibilities that are available.
But there is one catch... the mind must be positive, open and willing to try and accept failure in order to discover success.
I have been reading and researching quite a bit these past months about Authenticity and do you know what.
We are all only thwarted by our own fears, insecurities and people pleasing mindsets. When we let go of those elements we begin to live fully and gain true strength to speak with our Authentic voice. Today I challenge you to open the door to your true self and live the life that you were created to live.

For those of you who joined us at the Brighten Workshop you will recall that Carole and I spoke about accepting the challenge of using your own voice and finding your own unique niche.
I get energized and excited when I focus on the God given talents that I was born with. Just imagine that as we entered this world we were already a neat little unique package that our Mother's and Father's oohed and awed over.
Along the path of this incredible journey called life. Some of those remarkable vibes, energies, dreams and thoughts seem to have had a way of being morphed into a spider web type labyrinth with a tangled beginning and confusing end.
Comparison (the thief of joy) can step in, and we timidly and fearfully succumb to what we allow society to label us.
Too Old,
Too Young,
Too Tall,
Too short,
Smart, not smart, strong, weak, silly or meek....you say what??? I say no way!

However, on Sunday this fine group of mighty warriors gathered for the Brighten Workshop.
A workshop intentionally called Brighten. Because you see, the focus has always been this ,that by brightening your life with authenticity you can also brighten the lives of those around you.
Armed with pencils, pens, notebooks, cameras and a can do spirit, these vivacious women drove to Royse City Texas. A little Historical town between here and there and a tad bit of nowhere.
Some friends were old, some were new,
But we gathered together in the spirit of YES WE CAN!

Brighten Workshop-stencil

We shared, we laughed, we wondered and we energized one another with the knowledge that we can be anything that we want to be and who cares if we stumble, who cares if we fall.
We are going to try and when we are tired of trying, by darn we are going to try once again.
We are not quitters-we are doers!

My friend and co-founder of  Brighten, Carole from Garden Up Green, gave a presentation on how to freelance for income and also demonstrated the art of stenciling.

We feasted on sweets that were fit for a Queen and we really sort of felt one like too, except for the paint we had on our fingertips...
Jemma and Carole
Our only constraint was time and even though we completed our workshop right at 3 hours we could have shared and learned so much more from one another.
You know when you gather together with creators, you long to create even more.
You are ignited with a sense of Passion, Purpose and Productivity.
Founders of the Brighten Workshop Texas
Carole and I would like to thank those of you who journeyed to be with us for this special event.
Throughout the month of April I will be sharing my printable worksheets and guidelines for using your Authentic voice.
You need not be a blogger to benefit from this series, this is not about blogging it is about getting the most out of your life.
I will be sharing applicable tips, encouraging words, motivational stories and how the power of authenticity sets you free to reclaim the bright star you were born to be!
I will leave you with this one thought of encouragement and hopefully a little smile too!
Be your Best and Care not What others Think about you
XO!

  1. What a wonderful idea for a workshop! What a pleasure to get together with like-minded people and be able to create.

Labels are awful, aren't they? I think most of us label ourselves and it is usually to our detriment.

Have a wonderful week- xo Diana

Our Brighten Workshop was motivating. Sort of throw back to the days of quilting and card parties. Finding joy in the simple act of connecting with like minded souls is inspirational.
Yes, labels go out the door when you focus on authenticity!

    1. Authentic is the only way to go Carole! It is a great thing when we arrive at a place when we can accept who we are. Most of us are own worst critics so when we are able to realize that we were made just right and that God has it all worked out we are set free to spread our wings!
Always a joy to work with you too!

    1. Being comfortable expressing oneself is crucial to inner happiness and self acceptance. Some of us are late in life learners.
We did have a fantastic day and I think many of us feel recharged!
No, my daughter did not join us for this event, she had a busy day with her girls.

    1. Hi Tammy,
I wish you could have attended too. The more the merrier in my book. But you know driving around the Metroplex can be daunting and tiresome, so I suppose the next event should be more in the middle, if there is such a place in this 7,000,000 plus population!

  22. JEMMA and company, hello!!!!

Dearest Jemma, if I could, I would jump on a plane any time of the year to confer with you, but especially for workshops like this, I want so badly to join. It's beginning to occur to me, an only child and someone who actually likes solitude, that gathering together is so important for our well-being. Since I teach and am terribly busy for the school year, I don't notice my loneliness until times like NOW, while I'm on spring break and there is no one around to "play with." But when women get together like this, something wondrous happens. We re-calibrate, we focus on our potential. I am however, a soul-sister to you all because yesterday for example, I had a few artistic goals set in mind. I couldn't realize them for lack of help from a second pair of hands, and a few other details that hindered my progress. Being on a short break is great and I want to maximize every hour I have to myself.

I have often thought of creating my own workshop here in town but I have to admit, that me, myself, this audacious, vivacious woman, am afraid NO ONE WOULD COME!!!!!!!!!!

I must at least try and start out with maybe one or two chums that could possibly come and see how it starts out. Dearest Jemma, bless you!

Enjoy your precious Spring break and I will be watching for your IG posts!
