An Unflattering Bouqs Flower Review

This is a Bouqs flower review and it is not the one that I had intended on writing.
In fact I have even struggled with publishing it, after all Valentine's Day was well over a month ago, and I am all about positive.
But this is reality and reality needs to be shared and most of all,  I don't want you-to end up like me.
I am serious.
Flowers and me go back a long ways and I know a good flower, a good deal and an authentic mindset when I see it.
Bouqs-you dropped the ball big time.
You see prior to the order of the tulips for Valentine's Day I had in my mind a glowing description of what I would be writing about your company.

                                                               Bouqs Flowers $100.00
It all began with the Bouqs website.
Bouqs has the prettiest website with pictures of the actual flower farms and their growers.
I am a farmer at heart so I was hooked.
(I guess the photos of the flower farmers are real and the stories are true...now I am wondering about that too.)
Well, we ended up with these tulips (first photo) which are pretty, but certainly not amazing and definitely not worth $100.
We paid for shipping (that was suppose to be waived)  received no vase (which was to be included) never had our emails resolved, and never received a phone call.
Oh, thats right there is no phone number to call or a real person to talk too...

                                                              Kroger Flowers $7.99

Hmmm.... and Bouqs you ask me in your email to send photos of the flowers.
I did not ask for new flowers, I said the blossoms were rather small and I asked for the vase we paid for and a refund of the shipping charges that were "supposedly waived with the order."
I ask you this, how could I take a photo of a vase I didn't receive???

So in lieu of flower shopping at Bouqs, I suggest you try your local supermarket, florist or backyard!
Sharing a few more pretty flowers today with you that were all under $20.00

  1. Way to go, Jemma! I think this is the FIRST true-life, not glossed over review I have EVER read a sponsored (ok, semi-sponsored but supposed to be sponsored) blogger write. Keep it real, and help others NOT throw their money away. Bravo!

  2. This just makes me sad that you had this experience. I personally love Trader Joe's for all my fresh flower needs. Sometimes my WalMart has a nice selection, but it's kind of hit and miss.

    1. I was so dissapointed and so was my husband. I had sent him the link to their website a few weeks prior to Valentines Day and anxiously waited for their arrival. Well, they arrived and I found this clear vase to put them in. He came home from work and was so angry over it all.

  3. It seems like a lot of flower companies don't know the meaning of customer service anymore. Yikes!

    1. We tried to correspond with them for days through email, always getting the same response. We know they were operating on a script and the the script was not relevant to the issue. Pure frustration, too much money and so-so flowers.

  4. My daughter's husband is military and last year on Mother's Day there was a website that offered great deals on bouquets for military people. They ordered me a bouquet of flowers and it had tons of cheap greenery in it an hardly any flowers. The flowers it did have were pathetic, small, and not fresh, but rather died in a few days. The website refunded their money. They were lucky. Ordering flowers online can get sketchy and disappointing sometimes. Sorry it happened to you. xo

    1. Thanks for sharing your experience too. I say this a good lesson learned for us all. Stay away from online flower shopping and stick to the brick and mortar flower shops.
I am happy that your family was reimbursed for their expenses. Just as it should be!

  5. So happy you gave a real and honest review. Those are expensive flowers so how disappointing especially with the customer service end of it too. I have to say I love the flowers I get at the grocery store too. They are reasonable and so pretty. Thanks for the warning on this company. I am sure your experience is shared with many others so this company probably will not be in business long.
    Have a great Thursday.
    Hugs,

    1. Well Kris, I just had too. This was way too much money for these flowers and the lack of customer service.
I just hope their growers aren't being treated as poorly as their customers.
Thank you for chiming in too.

  6. What a big disappointment! I would have been so furious! I really don't like it when there is no phone number so you can directly interface with a company but we don't always know that up front. I think they do that on purpose so they have no sense of responsibility to the customer. They won't last long with that kind of service!

    1. So, so disappointing and yes we were furious! We became more furious with each and every email that we sent that gave us the run around too.
Customer service is everything and we certainly didn't receive any of it.

  7. Ordering flowers is so frustrating and being on the other foot - a use to be florist - knows that mistakes happen more and more because to many times the order gets misread and nobody wants to take the blame. The mark up is ridiculous and I think with a lot of these online services you're paying for the convenience more than anything else. I say grow your own or unfortunately hit the super market and many times in the summer the farmer's market can also be an awesome place. I did that one year sold my fresh flowers at the Market and it was a blast. Great information and thank you for sharing.

    1. Well, I always receive flowers from my hubby on Valentines Day. He normally purchases two dozen roses from Kroger and they are always lovely. However I was longing for an outstanding bouquet of Tulips and I also wanted to support flower Farmers.
I even do grow my own, but my tulip patch was sparse this year.
Live and learn and don't order flowers online!

    1. Stacey,
I had too, the more I thought about it the more outraged I became. I mean seriously a business cannot treat it's customers like this. Just imagine how this company is treating the growers they buy from.
      I say shame on them!

  9. Thanks for the tip. I will be sure not to give them any business. Have a great weekend, Jemma.

  10. How frustrating to get the run around like that! That certainly is a LOT of money for what you received, not to mention the horrible customer service.

I know you probably want to put this behind you, but money talks. If you didn't get what you paid for (vase, free shipping), please consider contacting your cc company and get them involved. You nor anyone else deserves to be treated like that. And if you haven't already, review them on Yelp and any other sites they're listed on.

    1. We certainly overpaid, didn't we?? I think shipping pushed up the dollar amount too, which was supposed to be waived.
I will find out where I can leave a review and start there.
I appreciate all of your suggestions so very much.

Yes, this is exactly why I did speak up, it's really quite ridiculous that any flowers should cost this amount!

  12. Jemma, I appreciate your honest review. I've received gift bouquets from online orders that I know family members spent a lot of money on, only to come to the same conclusion as you--grocery store or garden bouquets are best. {Of course this doesn't include Secret Garden Herbs, because I personally oversee that every herb is sent fresh as promised ;)} Hugs, Cecilia

    1. Yes, it is true family members try so hard to make their loved ones happy and will spend too much money on products from online stores.
Homegrown is by far the best or local florists, markets etc..
But I do agree all of the products that I have ordered from Etsy have been of good quality!

  13. I never order flowers on line anymore. They always arrive wilted, or the vast is broken etc. Shame on the company you ordered from!

  14. Your rambles are important and have even more impact because you rarely say anything negative, therefore, if one must be, it clearly is for a very good reason. Your review is honest and fair. You gave them plenty of opportunity to make good before you wrote it. I say "Bravo." (And aren't Kroger flowers great? They do a really nice job!)

  15. I think it is great to leave a true review. I would send them the link to this post! Flowers should never be that much money!

  16. I think a true review is good too. I don't know if I've ever told you but we are flower farmers lol. I love that people can buy directly from us.

  17. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for a totally honest review. That is just a crazy amount to pay for the flowers you received. Where is the value in that???? AND the customer service sounds lousy, or worse, non-existent.
We need a Krogers here!!!! xo Diana

  18. Thanks for passing this info on. It's good to know the grocery store is better and cheaper!

  19. So sorry this happened to you. I had looked at Bouqs at the beginning of the year and thought about sending flowers to a sick friend...but ended up "last minute" buying flowers and a vase/card at my local grocery store instead. I thought I did see a phone number on their website. If you click on the Contact Me box, it's right above where you email them. The line where their number is is ORANGE. It says: Customer Service Hours: Phone (888-320-2687) and Chat 6am - 5pm PST Monday through Friday / Email 5am - 9pm PST 7 days a week. If I were you I WOULD still contact them...even though Valentine's day is over and done with. Hugs, Jan

    1. Jan,
Good Morning, both my husband and I appreciate you providing us with this information. During the Valentine rush, there was not a number to be found, or we would have called. So you bet we will be calling this morning and I will be doing a follow up post on how it works out. I think it will be interesting to see if it does.
Glad you made the decision to purchase from your local market. Bouqs is outrageously expensive, I just felt we were supporting real life flower farmers.
      Thanks again.

  20. Dearest Jemma, I had no time yesterday to come (end of school for school break involves MEETINGS!) but I am so glad to be here with you.

No need to say anything here, because you already know it. Local merchandise and hands-on experience with things such as flowers is far better for me. But the bigger picture is this: we all find out sooner or later, that there is a lot of untruth out there. I am glad you were honest and stuck to your conviction to reveal the truth about your experience. I love how you compare with such pretty photos of much less expensive flowers found in your own backyard, both literally and figuratively! I find fabulous roses just down the street at the supermarket for $5.00!

  21. Jemma, I have heard this before and I am sad to hear that they have not changed at all. You would think that if you were going to send flowers out for a review, you would be on your best behavior. Can you imagine what kind of flowers and service their customers receive? Yikes. Your local grocery market flowers are lovely...on another note, good luck with your conference. Wish I was able to come! xo

  22. Jemma,
Gosh I can't remember if I commented here or on FB about your flower snafu but I scrolled through these comments quickly and did not see mine so it must have been when you posted on FB. As I mentioned, I had a bad experience as a recipient so I never dare to order flowers online. You would think they would want to right the situation....the customer service was horrible! Sorry it happened to you but I think it is good that you posted an honest review of your experience. Hope you enjoy the weekend!!! xo

  23. How disappointing for you Jemma. I'm glad you didn't gloss over any of the poor quality or service of this company. I'm not familiar with the name, but will be careful of on-line flower shops now. I had to order flowers last night (Jemma, my father passed away on Monday), but I am picking up the order myself tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's a good bouquet as it's for the care workers at my dad's residence ... they deserve something beautiful for all the difficult things they deal with. Take care Jemma,

  24. I am sorry this was such a discouraging experience. Whenever we order online, we take a chance. I have been very fortunate and have been so pleased with so many companies. I know you are a very positive person, and I trust your opinion, and you said what needed to be said so that others so not fall prey to an inferior product. Good for you for standing up for yourself and telling the truth. I hope they make it right by you!

    Big Texas Hugs,
    Susan and Bentley

  25. What a terrible experience - I'm sorry! I can't believe a company would charge $100 for a bouquet of tulips, for starters. Out of curiosity, I Googled "bouqs flowers review" and they have terrible reviews at consumeraffairs.com and bestcompany.com. So, you're not the only one! I buy my flowers at Trader Joes - $3.99 for a beautiful bouquet!
